It saw the cosmetic and interior changes last year, so this time it’s time for some love mechanicals. We have new engines in the V6 and V8, new steering, bigger brakes, better suspension, more sound insulation, spot mirrors, and a stiffer chassis for the convertible. Mechanicals

Let’s start with the new engines. V6 last year was a bit “difficult” to say the least. It was under powered, rough, and weight more than Kansas. This time we have an all-aluminum construction with double overhead camshafts and variable valve timing. This pushes the output to 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The new V8 is boosted to 5.0-liter, now has four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts. It is setting out 412 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. For this new power down, his new six-speed gearbox was introduced.

The new controller setup has seen mechanical movement of an electric power steering. The brakes have been upgraded and the suspension tuning has been improved. The rigid chassis for the convertible means that much stiffer ride, but is much more stable as a result.

Style

  • The 2011 Ford Mustang is still available as a coupe or convertible. Indeed, it is still one of the most drop-tops around. There are four trim levels: V6, V6 Premium, GT and GT Premium.

  • The V6 Premium includes several 17-inch wheels, leather interior, power driver’s seat seat, color-selectable gauges, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded interior, Ford Sync system and a better stereo.
  • Step into the V8 GT and you get everything from the V6 and, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and fog lamps. The GT Premium has several 18-inch wheels and all the toys the V6 Premium has.

We still can not believe that an anti-theft alarm is left as an option. You’d think in this day and age, a solid security system are part of the package. With a car like this, it’s a necessity. There is the option for exterior changes, Brembo brakes, big wheels, and more shiny stuff you can shake a chamois. The Mustang is one of the most customizable cars around. Just specifying it is a tremendously satisfying experience.

Driving

The Mustang has always been about the station. Before it was all about the V8. This time around the V6 gets a shout too. While the 5.0 Mustang is the only true now, the V6 is more than capable of a brilliant ride. This car would be so happy rippling through suburbia as it would be on public roads. The engine sounds great, the acceleration of the engine is what a kick from a pony must feel. A solid hit in the back which propels you forward at speed. Even in the third or fourth, put your foot down and you still get momentum back.

Grip is better, has better acceleration, steering response is better, in fact the whole of the 2011 Ford Mustang is better. In one years time, most Ford from those of all previous models. While the new engines have pushed up the price, what price happiness? At a shade of 22 Grand, this is a beautiful piece of machinery designed to put a smile on the faces of everyone.

New car offers will be competitive. The changes are the book prices, but Ford always seems ready to go. Discounts may be difficult at first, but a few months down the line, dealers will be a bit more smoothly.
